Freutcamp Summer 2014 Recap
I’ve been so excited to share the photos from our Summer Freutcamp held at Darling Magazine’s headquarters last month and the day has finally arrived!
It was a bright and sunny summer weekend, the perfect backdrop for two days of networking, learning and fun in the beautiful Darling photo studio. We started out camp with a Friday night mixer filled with delicious bites from Urban Palate of seasonal tartines, rainbow crudite and charcuterie.
Their house made grainy mustard with pretzel bites were out of this world and paired perfectly with little sips of Rosemary Grapefruit cocktails.
For dessert, you didn’t think I would leave out dessert did you, Crème Caramel LA served up mini Salted Caramel Budino and Ube Upsidedown Pie. Just the right sweet and satisfying bites to end the night of socializing and meeting fellow Freutcampers.
The space itself was gorgeous. Bright and cheery, just like Camp itself with lots of beautiful natural light. If only every classroom could be this fun!
We started out Saturday morning with welcome smoothies blended up by Blue Diamond Almond Breeze and Ninja Blenders. The smoothie bar served Sweet Green smoothies with mango and spinach as well as Peaches n’ Cream Smoothies, two recipes I recently created for Almond Breeze’s summer campaign. (Recipes will be up on Almond Breeze’s website very soon)
It was just the fuel we needed before class and an excuse to use small paper drink umbrellas before noon.
When it came to the decor, Seed Floral absolutely blew us all away with their light and airy, geometric flower arrangements. I loved the bright pops of color against the white wire frames and cubic vases on our craft paper tables. Seed Floral never ceases to amaze with their creative touches!
Speakers Allie Wester of Fanscape spoke about working with sponsors and brands while Mercedes Curran of Darling Magazine spoke about finding your unique voice and how Darling has found theirs. It was such an honor to have such inspiring and knowledgeable ladies share their passions with the class!
At lunch we indulged in my favorite fried chicken sandwiches with house made potato chips by Free Range La. If you haven’t tried his crazy good chicken, I highly recommend remedying that. How cute are these little pink lunch boxes they created for us?
For the food lovers at Camp, the class was surprised with the arrival of personal Hatchery boxes for all! If you haven’t heard of Hatchery quite yet, they are an awesome subscription of monthly tasting boxes that arrive at your doorstep with artisan ingredients and a tasting guide to inspire. So much fun!
It was a weekend filled with delicious treats, like my very favorite Blueberry almonds from Blue Diamond, eye candy from Seed Floral and lots of great information and sense of community. I feel so fortunate to be part of this blogging world and to be able to host classes like this sharing all of that positivity and knowledge with others.
I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend spent teaching this great group of bloggers, professionals and creative ladies…
…and watching them shake it up in the photo booth as Joanne snapped head shots!
