I have a confession to make...I don't like donuts. I can hear the gasps now! They smell delicious, look adorable, and always seem to disappoint me after the first bite. But recently with the entire 'cronut' craze, which is essentially just a deep-fried croissant, and the emergence of grilled donuts thanks to Better Homes and Gardens, I have had a serious hankering! Wouldn't it be fun to grill up donuts with a variety of dipping sauces and throw a Donut Party? It's almost too sweet to stand and I absolutely love the idea. Are you a donut lover? What's your favorite flavor?

I know what you mean - I only really like the cake ones, since it's fried cake, ya know?

I don't think I've ever met someone who doesn't like donuts! I have to admit, I love them but usually don't feel awesome after eating them. However, that doesn't seem to stop me from having a donut as an occasional treat. My favorite is sour cream glazed!

Must try to grill, looks yum

I absolutely love donuts! If you searched my blog for donuts, you would see lots of them eaten out on the town, recipes, and even a taste test comparing blueberry donuts! I usually get them from nice restaurants or well-reviewed local shops, so I haven't had too many bad donuts.
Since you're an L.A. girl, I have a few to suggest to you, just to see if you can become a convert. I wouldn't even mind being your partner in crime to give them just a second taste. 🙂
* Mercato di Vetro - I had these earlier this week. Amazing!
* Plan Check - Like a cross between a donut and a churro. Maybe it's a good donut to start with?
* Umamicatessen - Tres Leches Donut
* Fonut - Anything there! Both the blueberry and strawberry are amazing.
* Donut Man - Strawberry donuts are the fave, but there are so many to choose from!
I'm not sure how often you head south, but here are just a few more to try:
* Simmzy's (Long Beach) - The Apple Donut
* The Donuttery (Huntington Beach) - Both the Strawberry Nutella and PBJ are ridiculously good!
* Chapter One: The Modern Local (Santa Ana) - The Dude (chocolate donut with chocolate covered espresso beans and vodka whipped cream)
* King's, Mel's, and M&M Donuts (Garden Grove) - Blueberry donuts!
Longest comment ever, but I just had to share my love. Don't even get me started on frozen desserts!

For the most part I'm with you. Donuts make me nauseated (all that sugar!) but there's something about Donut Snob's donuts that make me swoon. They're sooo much more than a donut. We're having them at our wedding...that good.

I feel the same way about donuts! I wanted to use mini donuts as place cards for our wedding but then I remembered that I don't even like donuts. They are just so cute!

Hey Leah- love the party idea and the grilled doughnuts! My hubby and I recently had pretzels at a beer garden and they grilled the pretzel right before serving it- which was fabulous- but doughnuts might be even better! For years I was not a doughnut fan either until I tried Glazed & Infused doughnuts here in Chicago- totally changed my mind 🙂

I used to hate doughnuts -- just walking into Dunkin made me physically ill (which is funny, because I am a sugar addict). But Krispy Kreme made me a convert! We have a hard time driving by one of the "hot doughnuts now" signs, and I've recently tried some other doughnuts that were delicious... I guess it's just the dense, cakey ones that gross me out. They are super cute, though! And I am intrigued by the idea of grilled doughnuts. Will have to try!
