Please Pass the Ketchup & Mustard
Remember the days when ketchup came in a clear squeeze bottle and Grey Poupon was considered “gourmet”? Now the varieties are endless and Mustards are distinguished by the various wines & vinegars used, the texture of the mustard grains or the spices they enlist. As for ketchup, well you may be hard pressed to find the traditional condiment in most fine eateries or Gastropubs. Instead, be prepared to experience ketchup-jam or some other abstract form of the tomato fruit. Not that I’m complaining! The new face of the condiment aisle has become an adventure in exciting tastes. Bring on the ketchup and mustard! But please…don’t use these on a hot dog.

This ketchup looks like original packaging from 1800′s…! Very cool. Where does the word “ketchup” come from? I really like the french mustard color shown here…looks delicious! Good for some sliders, right?
Hey Michele- The word ketchup is derived from the Chinese ke-tsiap, a pickled fish sauce. And yes I agree, it would be delicious on sliders!
