Baking with Kids
Yesterday my friend Megan came over with her twin 3 year olds for a baking session. You see, I had promised the twins a day filled with baking and sprinkles and I intended to deliver! I started to think, what in the world do you bake with two 3 year old kids? Certainly not cupcakes, that seemed to difficult for my first time. Nothing with frosting…because I was scared, and because there is carpet. Cookies are always a good choice…but what about the sprinkles? Ding, ding, ding! I will make Jess’s Confetti Cookies; simple sugar cookies rolled in sprinkles. Brilliant!
Looks pretty good for being made with tiny hands don’t you agree? These kiddos did everything from creaming the butter to measuring the dry ingredients. They really had a blast rolling their dough balls in the plate of sprinkles then smooshing them flat on cookie sheets. It was the perfect kid friendly, and easy, recipe. Plus, everyone should have a good sprinkle explosion in their kitchen from time to time.

All the essentials needed for a successful baking session with kiddos…
1| Mini aprons 2| Lots of sprinkles 3| Hand soap and non-toxic cleaner (I love Method) 4| Mini cookie scoop 5| Silpat mats for no-stick cookies 6| Mini spatulas 7| Sturdy chairs or stools to stand on.

4. Add egg, extract, and vanilla; mix until smooth. Reduce speed to low.
5. Gradually mix in flour mixture until just combined.
6. Scoop batter using a tablespoon or small cookie scoop; Roll into a ball using the palm of your hands.
7. Roll each ball in sprinkles and press to flatten. Space 2 inches apart on lined baking sheets.

Yay! Glad I could inspire. Your niece and nephew will have a blast.
Oh, how absolutely adorable those twins are! You are the best “auntie”, I have to say! xox
Aw, thanks Jackie! When Arabella gets a little bit older I can hopefully bake with her as well!
xo
Ahh so cute! Will have to try this recipe with Matthew one day
Yes! It’s the perfect recipe for kids. The twins LOVED it!
These cookies remind me of the ones I used to get for free when I went grocery shopping as a child. They were the best, and sprinkles truly make everything better. Some of my favorite memories were baking when I was younger. So fun
Oh my goodness those look absolutely delicious! Adorable accessories as well!
I don’t know what is cuter, the cookies or the kids! Kids I think
What a great time you must have had. I love the thought of a “sprinkle explosion” in my kitchen. I can’t wait to have kids to bake with!
This is a cute idea…just baked up some banana bread with my 7-year-old and it was a messy experience. I bet she’d love these cookies too!
OMG they’re too cuyte in their little aprons
and let’s face it, anything with sprinkles is amazing!
