If you were given the choice of dream vacation, would you choose a tropical Caribbean island perhaps? Ever since my visit to Sunny Spot, a Caribbean breeze, soft sugary white sand beaches and rum cocktails have been weighing heavily on my mind.
Sunny Spot is one of the few restaurants I've experienced in Los Angeles that has the power to completely transport you. It was 5:00 in Venice when we arrived but that entire hectic LA scene quickly melted away in the bright, cheery and colorful rum bar. It was like I had stepped foot into Calypso’s lair…and I never wanted to leave.
It’s easy to forget all about time and obligations when feasting on Sunny Spot’s spicy Caribbean cuisine. We started our “vacation” with sweet and spicy Pineapple Lollipops, Cash Money Calamari and one of the strongest (but most delicious) rum cocktails I have ever tasted.
Honestly, I didn’t want our happy hour to end partially because the food was so darn good—I highly recommend the Bloody Shrimp Cocktail, Jerk Fries, and the One Fisted Sliders—but mostly because it meant returning from my mental Caribbean vacation.

Being an island girl here in L.A. I am really pick about "Caribbean" cuisine. But since I'm flying home to The Bahamas for a few weeks. I'll have to check this out!
