It’s official; I have a new girl crush. My appreciation for and admiration of Giuliana Rancic has shot through the roof after reading her autobiography, Going Off Script. I’ve selected it for this month’s Freutcake Book Club read because there’s no way you will not enjoy it. Giuliana writes with a glorious combination of honesty, humor, humility, and hope (look at that alliteration in full effect!). Her down-to-earth attitude and openness will leave you feeling like you’ve made a new friend.
Prior to reading this book, I knew bits and pieces of Giuliana’s struggles with infertility and cancer, but I wasn’t aware of the depth of her difficult experiences. I also didn’t know how much of a badass she is! From a young age, Giuliana knew what she wanted to do in life, and she didn’t allow a single thing to knock her off course. The determination and faith she has maintained throughout her life serve as inspiration for the rest of us. She’s so much more than the face of E! News; she’s the face of every woman who has had a dream, stumbled, gotten back up and brushed herself off, knowing that she is worthy of everything her heart desires. As you read, you’ll laugh, cry, cringe, and find yourself cheering Giuliana on through her struggles and triumphs. Novels are fun and entertaining to read, but nothing beats the true story of a real life woman writing her own story, complete with a happy ending despite 32 on-screen rejections from George Clooney!
