    Monster Rice Krispies Treats

It only takes a few fun ingredients to turn Rice Krispies treats into silly three-eyed monsters, Frankenstein and cute wide eyed mummies for Halloween! These are so much fun to eat, and to decorate. Here's how I made them...

    Monster Rice Krispies Treats

    Ingredients & Supplies Needed:

1 batch of rice krispies treats cut into squares
    Paper straws
    candy eyeballs
    1 bag white chocolate chips
green, blue and red food coloring
    coconut oil
    mini marshmallows
    black decorating gel
    chocolate sprinkles
    green sanding sugar

    Directions:

    1. Insert paper straws into rice krispies squares and set aside on a wax paper lined baking sheet. You may want to cut the straws down a bit before inserting. Also, I found they were sturdier when inserted all the way into the treats.

    2. Melt bag of white chocolate according to directions on the package. I used the microwave and melted the chips in intervals starting with 45 seconds and then 15 second intervals stirring frequently. When white chocolate is completely melted, divide into three bowls. Add a few drops of green food coloring to one bowl and a few drops of blue and red (to make purple) to the second bowl. Leave the third bowl white. If your white chocolate begins to seize up with the addition of the food coloring, add in a tiny bit (less than 1tsp) of coconut oil and stir well. This should smooth the chocolate back out again. Note: If the chocolate hardens at anytime during the decorating process, you can re-melt in the microwave in 15 second intervals.

    The Mummy:

To make the mummy, coat the top ⅔ with white chocolate and return to the wax paper lined sheet pan to set. Drizzle more white chocolate in strips over the coating and stick on two candy eyeballs with a bit of white chocolate. Return to sheet pan to set.

    The Monster:

To make the monster, coat the top ⅔ with purple chocolate and return to the wax paper lined sheet pan to set. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on for "hair" and add three candy eyeballs.

    Frankenstein:

To make Frankenstein, coat the top ⅔ with green chocolate and return to the wax paper lined sheet pan to set. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle on green sanding sugar and stick two mini marshmallow "bolts" on the sides of his head. Add on candy eyeballs and allow the chocolate to set completely. Once dry, use black decorating gel to draw on his scar and zig zag hair.

    Monsters are served!
