    S'mores

This past weekend was National S'mores day...as if we need any more deliciously indulgent holidays! Sadly, I did not celebrate with a s'more but I am planning to get my fill of the gooey delicious things before this summer comes to an end. Is it just me or is this summer absolutely flying by? Do you like to experiment with your s'more flavors or are you a traditionalist? Here are a few fun combinations I'd like to try.

    1. Nutella S'Mores
    large marshmallows
    Nutella
    graham crackers

    Directions:
    1. Spread Nutella on the inside of two graham cracker halves.
    2. Add toasted marshmallow, sandwich together and enjoy!

    2. Lemon Meringue Pie S'Mores
    large marshmallows
    homemade lemon curd
    graham crackers

    Directions:
    1. Spread lemon curd on the inside of two graham cracker halves.
    2. Add toasted marshmallow, sandwich together and enjoy!

    3. Girl Scout S'Mores
    large marshmallows
    Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies

    Directions:
    1.  Toast a marshmallow, sandwich between two Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies, and enjoy!

    4. Toasted Marshmallow, Charred Bread, and Banana Sticks with Chocolate Fondue- (via Martha Stewart Living) Sort of a deconstructed s'more meets chocolate fondue. Sounds absolutely heavenly to me!

    For the Chocolate Fondue
8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped (1 ½ cups)
    1 cup heavy cream
    3 tablespoons bourbon (optional)

    For the Skewers

2 rolls Skillet Bread, cut into 1 ½-inch cubes
4 ripe but firm bananas, cut into 1 ½-inch-thick pieces
    1 bag (10 ounces) marshmallows

    Directions:
    1. Make the chocolate fondue: Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Bring cream to a simmer in a medium saucepan set over a campfire or on a medium-high grill; pour over chocolate. Let stand for 5 minutes. Whisk until smooth. Whisk in bourbon.
    2. Make the skewers: Thread bread, bananas, and marshmallows onto 8 skewers. Toast over campfire. Serve with chocolate fondue for dipping.

S'mores are my very favorite Summer treat! So bummed I missed the holiday (doesn't America have the funniest/greatest holidays?!) but I'll definitely be making some s'mores before Summer's end... and into Fall, who am I kidding?

So true! Who says we can't make a killer Fall S'more. 😉 Pumpkin perhaps?

I've never had s'mores because I am from England! But I am so inspired to try and make my own now! I approve of the lemon curd flavour. That sounds amazing. I wee bit obsessed with Lemon Curd at the moment! X

Never having made s'mores I highly recommend starting with a the traditional combination! Graham crackers, Hershey chocolate bar, and toasted marshmallow...preferably over a campfire if possible. 😉 THEN try the lemon curd option. It's not at all traditional but I am also obsessed with lemon curd.

Yes, summer is flying on by and you are bringing me to the realization that I haven't eaten a s'more yet this season! I would call myself a s'more traditionalist, but that lemon meringue s'more sounds mighty appealing! What isn't made better by the addition of lemon curd?!

Seriously, I could probably eat lemon curd on anything. In fact I've even made a lemon curd chicken...delish!

I'm a traditionalist, but these other options are calling my name! Missed the actual day, so will be celebrating this weekend!

Nothing wrong with that! I say celebrate as long as you can. 🙂
