Spicy Chili Honey Salmon is an easy 30 minute baked salmon glazed with a sticky sweet and spicy honey garlic sriracha sauce. Served along side asparagus and white rice, this flavorful Asian inspired salmon will be a new favorite.
Spicy Chili Honey Salmon
When I was in college, I had one signature dish and that was chicken cooked in a soy-honey glaze. It was as basic as it comes but the sauce thickened up in the pan and made a sticky sweet and salty sauce that was so easy to make.
Today I still love the combination of soy sauce and honey but add in Sriracha, sesame oil and fresh garlic, and you have an absolutely delicious marinade and glaze for Salmon!
Ingredients needed for Spicy Chili Honey Salmon
- Salmon - I prefer wild caught salmon for it's flavor but use whatever salmon you like and can find. I buy my wild caught salmon at Trader Joe's.
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- Sesame Oil
- Sriracha
- Garlic
- Honey
- Sesame seeds
- green onion
How to make Baked Honey Garlic Salmon
- Whisk together soy sauce, Sriracha, sesame oil, honey and minced garlic.
- Pour half of the sauce over salmon.
- Bake alongside asparagus at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
- Serve with steamed white rice.
Glaze for Baked Salmon
The trick that I've found for a really delicious flavorful salmon that also has a sticky thick glaze is to only use half of the sauce for baking the fish. The other half I reduce down on the stove-top and glaze the salmon with after it's done cooking.
By thickening the remaining sauce and drizzling over the baked fish, you achieve that glossy, thick and delicious glaze without worrying about it all melting off in the oven.
The reason I love making baked salmon with asparagus is that the cooking time is the same. If you bake your salmon and asparagus at 400 degrees for 12 minutes it results in perfectly cooked, tender-crisp asparagus and flakey salmon. You can't go wrong with this sheet pan meal.
What to Serve with Baked Salmon
I serve Spicy Chili Honey Salmon with roasted asparagus, steamed white rice, and garnished with plenty of green onion. It would also be delicious served with Creamy Dill Fried Potatoes or Spinach Dill Rice.
