The Irish version of an espresso martini made with whiskey and Irish cream. This espresso martini is a delicious dessert cocktail to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and a nod to the classic Irish Coffee.
St. Patrick's Day Martini
I love an espresso martini but I have to say, this Irish Whiskey Espresso Martini is by far my favorite! For a whiskey lover, you can't go wrong with these flavors. Jameson Irish Whiskey, Bailey's Irish Cream and strong brewed espresso make for the most flavorful, creamy and delicious dessert cocktail.
Irish Espresso Martini Ingredients
- Irish Whiskey - I used Jameson but you can use any brand of whiskey or your favorite Irish whiskey for this drink.
- Irish Cream - Bailey's is what I like to use for this drink, is there even an alternative? Genuinely asking.
- Espresso - I brew a double shot at home and chill it. You will need 2 ounces of strong espresso per drink!
Only three ingredients to make this cocktail, so make them good quality! While a traditional espresso martini calls for simple syrup, I don't find that this version needs any sweetener thanks to the Bailey's Irish Cream being sweet enough.
How to Make an Irish Espresso Martini
- Chill a martini coup in the freezer, the frostier the better!
- Combine whiskey, Irish cream and espresso in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake 30 seconds until frosty and foamy.
- Strain into chilled cocktail coupe, garnish and serve.
How to Achieve Espresso Martini Foam
I have used many cocktail shakers, even glass mason jars, but nothing works to achieve the foamy top and frosty consistency of a martini quite like a classic metal cocktail shaker.
To garnish, place four small mint leaves on top of the cocktail foam to form a four leaf clover. You'll find this drink delicious and lucky!
A nod to the classic Irish coffee, but made with espresso, shaken and chilled; this is a must make cocktail for Saint Patrick's Day, cheers!
