All weeklong I’ve been waiting for the panic to set in. You know, the paralyzing, gripping fear that's supposed to come when you reach a landmark birthday. Yet, somehow the big three-oh has quietly arrived and I still feel the same.
What the heck birthday?! I thought turning 30 was supposed to be the first of many mini-meltdowns along the road to getting older. Isn’t it customary for ladies to go out on their 30th donning crazy feather boas, tiaras, and t-shirts reading, “Dirty Thirty" all bedazzled? Shouldn't I be eager to hold onto my twenties or to relive my college days? Hmm, well birthday, I'm sorry to disappoint you!
It’s funny really how instead of feeling older today, I just feel more like myself. It’s as if the light bulb inside of me has been slowly growing brighter over these past 30 years. Turning thirty feels like the beginning of something new. I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe because I'm only thirty, but I'm sure whatever this decade holds, it's going to be good. Today I turned 30, without a crown or boa, and when I look in the mirror I like what I see.

For some reason this made me teary eyed. If I were you, I would like what I see too. Happy birthday to my oh so wonderful college room mate. Though we might not want to relive those years ( or maybe we do???) may we never forget them! I am proud of the 30 year old you are and happy that we spent our 20's together 🙂 Much love!
PS wish I approached 30 as gracefully... I was depressed. But once I got there, it was like "what was all the fuss about?"

yes! getting older is a GREAT thing! I'm 27 and feel like a baby. I'm enjoying every moment of it but I look at women in their 40's even and think "wow, they've got it".
