Making fudge is one of the easiest homemade Christmas candies and Layered White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge is a favorite! A layer of milk chocolate topped with white chocolate peppermint fudge sprinkled with crushed peppermint candies, come together in a flash. Here's how we make it...
Easy Layered White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge
I've been making what I call easy fudge or cheaters fudge for years now. I've attempted candy thermometer fudge and quite honestly, I'm not sure if I'm cut out for candy making, especially when I can open a can of condensed milk.
Easy Layered White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge has only four ingredients and can be made in a couple of hours...which includes chilling time in the fridge. You are going to love this recipe for easy holiday gift giving.
Ingredients for Homemade Fudge
The ingredients for this homemade fudge are BEYOND simple. Here's all you need:
- Sweetened Condensed Milk - this is the secret short cut for all of my homemade fudge recipes.
- Chocolate Chips - I used both semi-sweet and white chocolate for this recipe but you could also use dark chocolate chips. Just make sure you are using a high quality chocolate brand such as Ghirardelli for the best flavor.
- Extract- I always add a splash of vanilla extract to my chocolate fudge and in this recipe, a splash of peppermint extract to my white chocolate layer. However, you can experiment with any good quality extracts you like!
- Aluminum Foil- ok, not an ingredient but so necessary if you ever want to remove fudge from it's baking dish. Trust me.
How to Easy Christmas Fudge
When it comes to the actual steps for easy Christmas Fudge making, you basically melt, stir, and chill. You will be making two batches of fudge for this layered recipe: one chocolate and one white chocolate and chilling in between. Let's get started!
- Start by placing one can of sweetened condensed milk in a sauce pan over the lowest heat possible. This is KEY if you want smooth fudge and chocolate that doesn't seize. Add in one back of chocolate chips and begin to melt, stirring continuously until all of the chocolate and milk have melted together.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour fudge into a foil lined baking dish and chill until firm in the refrigerator about 30 minutes to 1 hour. The first layer doesn't have to be completely set before layering on the white chocolate.
- While the first layer chills, repeat with the white chocolate layer. Melt, add extract, stir.
- Pour the white chocolate fudge layer over the chilled chocolate layer and sprinkle generously with crushed candy canes or peppermint candies. Additional sprinkles are optional.
- Chill for 2 hours or until completely firm.
- Carefully peel foil off of the fudge and cut with a sharp knife into small squares. Eat, share, and enjoy!
Once your fudge is completely chilled and cut into squares it's ready to serve or package up and give as homemade Christmas gifts! When I gift this fudge I always recommend the recipient keep the fudge in the refrigerator if it's not going to be consumed same day.
Easy Layered White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge is absolutely going to be your new favorite homemade holiday gift to make and give! It comes together in a flash and everyone loves receiving it. I also really enjoy this recipe for Easy Chocolate Pecan Fudge, which is a nut lovers dream.
